From waste to possibility

You have landed on the website for the Food Upcycling project – a project that helps companies convert underutilised side streams from food production into valuable products. The goal is to reduce food waste, lessen environmental and climate impact, and strengthen the competitiveness of Danish food producers and related industries such as process, technology suppliers, and transporters.

The project runs from 2025 to 2027 and during this period assesses the business potential for upcycling side streams in collaboration with over 200 Danish and international companies. Approximately 40 companies will receive tailored development programs focusing on process development, safety, and shelf life.

Join Food Upcycling 

Are you a food producer with an unused or underutilised side stream? At Food Upcycling, we offer tools, workshop activities, and development programs that help you and your partners create new valuable products from your side stream.

Are you a producer seeking resources or products that come from one or more food side streams? Food Upcycling can help you establish cooperation with suppliers of such products/resources, in addition to assisting in optimising the resource for the desired application.

Are you a provider of solutions for processing, storage, packaging, or transport of side streams? Through Food Upcycling, you can engage in dialogue with companies that are trying to create new value from side stream resources and therefore need solutions that your company can offer. 

As a supplier of solutions, you can connect with potential customers by participating in Food Upcycling’s workshops and by contributing to development programs on specific side streams. You can also promote your solutions via the European platform Foodleap and thus gain access to a larger network of potential partners.

At Food Upcycling, we are also interested in collaborating with existing projects or partnerships that are working to utilise specific side streams. With the competencies gathered in Food Upcycling, we will be able to add value to most side stream activities, whether it concerns a technical problem, a need for scaling, or a competency missing in the partnership.
